Are spectre air filters good?

I'm looking at different air filters for my 97 BMW 328i. I know they're not going to give me a big boost but the spectre drop in filter is only like 30 bucks. Or could the 55 dollar KandN filter be better?

The spectre is like the K&n but it will only last a few years. the rubber on them shrinks and cracks. You shouldn't notice much of a boost at all unless your replacing a incredibly dirty filter.
