V's vs Disc in SF Peninsula?

I've got Avid BB7's (with Avid Single Digit 7 levers) on a Giant Trance, and am toying with the idea of putting on my Avid Single Digit 7's just to experiment with something different. I also race XC (Beginner Men), and am thinking about saving some weight

Disc. More reliable braking when needed. No brake fade like you'd get with V's.
