What is the most powerful American muscle car engine for the 60's & 70's ?

I know people add stuff to their engines to make them super sports but without all the additives what was the most powerful engine in them 20 years ? ( No International Sports cars included ) American Muscle only and street legal.

On paper, it's the 1970 Chevelle SS454 with the LS6 motor, rated at 450 horsepower. They made more than 4,000 of them.

Otherwise, I would have to suggest the Chevy L88 and ZL1 427s. The former was installed in Corvettes from 1967-69, while
